Bar None: Cannabis Redemption, an award-winning 60-minute independent documentary exploring the impact of outdated cannabis laws and the stories of those rebuilding their lives after incarceration, will screen on Saturday, August 9. 2pm at UFCW Local 360, 400 Commerce Ln, West Berlin NJ 08091.The screening is free and open to the public.
Following the film, there will be a Q&A session featuring the filmmaker and participants. Bar None: Cannabis Redemption shines a light on the resilience and advocacy of formerly incarcerated individuals who are now working within the legal cannabis industry, while also highlighting broader questions of equity, accountability, and true legalization. The film recently won Best Director/Feature Film at the AltFF Alternative Film Festival in Toronto, was nominated for Best Documentary (North America) at the same festival, and was an Official Selection at the Massachusetts International Film Festival. “This is more than a film — it’s a platform for stories often silenced, and a tool for education, justice, and organizing,” said Filmmaker Howard Ellis.
The event is sponsored by UFCW Local 360. The union is proud to represent workers across New Jersey who work across the cannabis industry’s entire supply chain, including cultivation, manufacturing and processing, distribution, and in dispensaries.
